Now
that you have a complete list of the items you want to include in your
portfolio, you need to think about the best way to display these items.
Some common ways of displaying portfolios are:
- Binder: Choose to display
your portfolio in a binder if the items you chose include certificates,
pictures, writing samples, etc. If you chose
items that can be displayed in a binder, this is a great way to organize
your portfolio. If you display your portfolio items in a binder,
you may choose to utilize some creative scrapbooking techniques to
make
your portfolio
more attractive. See the scrapbooking hints and tips at the end of
this activity to get some creative ideas.
- Small box: Portfolios
displayed in a shoebox or other small container likely includes items
that
are small and cannot be put in a binder. If
you chose portfolio items such as a rock collection or a scarf
you knitted, a shoebox or other small box for your portfolio would
work great.
- Electronically: Portfolios
that are displayed electronically often include pictures that are
scanned into a computer. Before
using this
portfolio
method, you should make sure your audience has the technology
available to view your electronic portfolio.
- Combination: If you have
many different types of items for your portfolio, you may choose
to use a combination of any of
the display
methods. For
example, you may want to include some small items in a box
and also a binder of awards you have received. If you would like
to do this, just
keep the
binder in the box with your other portfolio items. Remember,
if you have very large or valuable items you would like to
include in your portfolio,
it is easiest to take a photograph of the items and include
the picture in your portfolio.
